2023 Home Trends

The thing we love most about trends is the inspiration they can provide to revamp your space. Finding little ways to pull from trends without doing a complete overhaul can help give tired spaces new life. And finding joy in your home is shown to boost overall happiness! Each year designers around the world predict what aesthetics they think will stick around from previous years, as well as what new styles we might see come on to the scene. These are some of our favorite trends we are stoked to see in 2023.

Nature Inspired Spaces

Nature inspired spaces were trending last year and are still on trend for 2023. There are many ways to promote nature inspired spaces within your home. Earthy tones can be used to bring comfort, light, warmth and softness to a space. Neutral and natural colors such as green, brown, terracotta, and beige are continuing to make their appearance – check out our post on the top paint colors of 2023 here. Nature inspired wallpaper has also been having a revival, but with a more modern and bold twist than the dated floral patterns of decades past.

Nature inspired spaces can also include incorporating nature into your home through things like wood cabinetry, wood accent walls and paneling, natural stone floors, and decorative plants. Plants more than any other element in this trend have taken off in a way that likely won’t subside any time soon. From plant walls, hanging pants, terrariums and more house plants are an amazing way to add a little lushness to any space.

Micro Luxury

Micro luxury is all about going big on a single room or statement piece. Taking a space and making it feel lavish and grand. Some might choose small spaces, such as powder rooms, bars, guest rooms, laundry rooms, or patios. While others might opt for adding a few high end statement pieces as focal points in more primary areas like the living room, primary suite, kitchen, or home office. For a living room think things like plush couches or arm chairs, a statement bookshelf, a lavish rug, soft lighting and maybe some bold wallpaper or paneling. In a bathroom it might mean beautiful tile work, custom sink or countertop, and a luxury towel and bathrobe set. This is a great way of picking one of your favorite or most used spaces in the the home to splurge on and add a little luxury while not having to tackle the whole house.

Upcycling

Upcycling is the trend of bringing the old into the new, and we are excited to see it reaching into home decor. Several factors have given life to this trend, pandemic supply chain issues and shipping delays, a consumer push for sustainability, affordability as prices skyrocket for everything, and also an influx in time to have hobbies. All of this has spurred many to recycling and repurposing used items and bringing them new life. This could mean reimagining pieces already in your home, think IKEA hacks, to reupholstering couches or chairs, or thrifting for old pieces that are looking for a new home. Also called furniture flipping, people strip, sand and paint or stain old furniture to bring a modern touch to classic or timeless pieces. This trend allows you to put your own stamp and design aesthetic on repurposed furniture which is a pretty cool way to truly make a space your own, and keep furniture out of the landfill!

Art Deco

Speaking of making old new again. The resurgence of the Art Deco style in homes is one we are seeing that fits in perfectly with our other picks. Combinations of bold colors and patterns, notes of opulence, plush fabrics, gold accents this classic design era that never seems to go out of style. Traditional but with notes of whimsy and fun we can’t wait to find ways to add little touches from this trend into our homes.
