Neighborhood Spotlight- Multnomah Village

The Portland Metro area is filled with so many awesome and distinct neighborhoods and suburbs, each with their own history, unique businesses, mini cultures, and events! We wanted to showcase all the pieces that make up the Portland Metro, from Vancouver all the way down to Wilsonville! If there is a neighborhood you want to see us feature don’t forget to leave a comment.

Multnomah Village, located in the southwest part of Portland, OR, started out as nothing but a cow pasture part of Hillsdale. When Oregon Electric came to town and set up a station, the cow pasture was named Multnomah Village. The first established store was named Bungalow Cash Grocery, near the Oregon Electric station. Since then, the village has just been growing.  In 2009, Multnomah Village celebrated 100 years as a business district.

Today Multnomah Village is just that, a village. It was dubbed “The Village in the Heart of Portland,” not only for its easy walkability and pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, but also for its small town vibe. It is perfect for any and all ages. Just a 5 – 10 minute drive to downtown Portland, Multnomah Village can be the best of both worlds. Whether you are a grandparent walking their grandchild to get cinnamon rolls at Marco’s Cafe, or a couple enjoying a Friday night at John’s Marketplace for their Beer and Wine Tastings, you will not be disappointed. The diverse array of shops, food, & drink, health and beauty, means there is something here for everyone.
